Training session information
Training with passion, intensity and an emphasis on teamwork is at the heart of our team culture. We view every training session as an opportunity to become incrementally better. Every player is given the tools and opportunity to develop in an environment that thrives on challenge and improvement through togetherness. All training sessions are mixed.
The structure and nature of Vale Viper training sessions will via depending on what point in the season we are at. We employ a ‘stage before age’ system that enables us to ensure all players have the right amount of challenge when training. The Thursday night Cowbridge session is considered our main national league training session and players 16+ should prioritise attendance at it to ensure game selection. Many of our Tuesday 8pm sessions will be used for fixtures in the SWBA U16, U18 and Mens Div 3 leagues. Occasionally there may be info communicated about training sessions prior to them. This will be done via our closed Facebook Group which we recommend all parents and players aged 13+ join
On Thursday nights there are Strength and Conditioning training sessions available. These are run by our partner Athletic Development Wales (ADW) and are held in the Cowbridge school fitness suite, which is above and looks into the sports hall. S&C for players in Years 11-13 runs from 6:30-7:30pm, prior to their club training session. Players in years 7-10 have their S&C session at 7:30pm after their club training. The S&C sessions come at no further cost to Vipers on the monthly payment plan, other players will need to pay ADW a small fee per S&C session.
